This architecturally exciting estate stands in eight acres of grounds, with mature walled gardens, orchards, paddocks and a one acre fully stocked carp lake. The original cottage dates to Tudor times, and the main house is known to date from the mid 1500's, paint detailing found in some of the oldest rooms has been dated to around this period. The current buildings date from 1638, the main house with its stone flagged hall dates from 1700 and the northern wing incorporating the Corbett Suite was added in 1720.The dated history of the house can be found here.
John & Doreen Morgan have lived here with their family since 1981, moving from Penn, Wolverhampton with their three sons, Paul, David, Daniel and Johns Father Sam , the family originally came from Tipton in the West Midlands. In 1991 they took the decision to convert disused outbuildings for use as a restaurant, function room and guest house, keeping the main house private and only using it for Wedding Receptions. Though the business has greatly expanded since then and some family have grown &Â since moved into their own homes, the house is still lived in and used by the family, especially so at Christmas when Blakelands closes to the public.

Today, John & Doreen still live on site, and day to day management is looked after by Paul & Heather Morgan (pictured above), who also still live on the Estate along with their family. Duties are spit between Heather concentrating on the Restaurant and Paul Looking after Wedding & Banqueting duties.
Blakelands, however, has always been and still remains today a family home.
